As it consumes large volumes of gas, ENDESA has secured long-term supplies of the natural gas it needs for generation and supply purposes.
In 2001, 25% of the contract for the pipeline supplying gas from Algeria was awarded with ENDESA winning around 18%.
Also, ENDESA signed two long-term contracts in 2003 with Nigeria LNG Limited and Ras Laffan LNG Limited of Qatar to supply each company 1 bcm as from 2006 and 2005, respectively. These contracts are in addition to those already in place with Gas Natural and Sonatrach.
