ENERGY BUSINESSES

ENDESA carries out electricity production activities in Spain, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, France and Portugal; electricity distribution in Spain, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Morocco; and it supplies electricity and services in Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Italy, France, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Andorra and various European wholesale markets.

The electricity companies controlled by ENDESA had a total installed capacity of 49,187 MW at the end of 2007, with annual generation of 183,946 GWh and total electricity sales of 227,502 GWh to over 23 million customers.

It is present in Spain in the regulated market of natural gas with 375,000 customers and in deregulated market with more than 446,000 supply points.

It also has stakes in renewable and cogeneration energy facilities representing a combined capacity in service or under construction of 2,857 MW.

OTHER ENERGY-UNRELATED BUSINESSES

ENDESA is present in the telecommunications sector.

In Spain, it has a shareholding in the Auna Group, the second global telecommunications operator in Spain, which includes fixed and mobile telephony companies, Internet services, cable and other telecommunications services.

Outside Spain, it owns the Chilean mobile telephony company Smartcom, which has over 600,000 customers.

ENDESA carries out research and development activities for voice and data transmission using powerlines. The tests on this technology, carried out in Barcelona and Seville in 2001, were satisfactory. Consequently, in the course of 2002, two new tests are being set up: an experiment of massive implementation of this technology in the city of Zaragoza for 2,500 customers and another for 50 customers in Santiago de Chile.
