• The Chairman of Endesa, Borja Prado Eulate, and the President of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), José Luis Sáez, have signed an agreement whereby the company will sponsor the Spanish national basketball team for the next three seasons, in addition to the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

• Endesa has now added an international dimension to its backing for this sport which it has already nurtured at the domestic level via the Endesa ‎League.

The Chairman of Endesa, Borja Prado Eulate, and the President of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), José Luis Sáez, have signed a sponsorship agreement for the next three seasons. This strategic deal further underlines Endesa's firm commitment to Spanish basketball as it will see the company partner the Spanish national basketball team from this season on and sponsor the 2014 Basketball World Cup, which is being staged in Spain.

The agreement was signed at Endesa's headquarters and deepens the company's commitment to this sport which has been demonstrated by its backing of the Endesa League as part of the Blue Attitude campaign. Endesa is now the principal sponsor of Spanish basketball both in Spain and internationally through its support of the Spanish team.

As a result of this strategic alliance Endesa will be lending its name to the Spanish Team's 15-day tour of seven major Spanish cities on the so-called “Ruta Ñ”. The company will also sponsor the match between reigning Olympic champions, the USA, and the Spanish team, to be held this summer in Barcelona. The Spanish team won the World Championship in 2006, has claimed the European title on two occasions (in Poland in 2009 and in Lithuania in 2011) and finished as silver medallist at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

About the Spanish Basketball Federation

The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) has been responsible for the development and practice of basketball in Spain since it was created in 1923. Its Assembly is comprised of more than 100 members representing all Spanish basketball groups, ranging from the Regional Federations and Endesa League to national teams and grassroots clubs. With over three million pages served each month via its official website (www.feb.es), the FEB has broadened its international reach and it is in large part thanks to its endeavours that Spain has hosted more international basketball-related events than any other country over the last decade. The FEB's own revenues cover 80% of the budget of some Euro 25 million established for 2012 and it has also led the way by setting up a Foundation to develop social programmes at home and abroad .
